Conekt Completes Investment in Validation Facility

BIRMINGHAM, UK - 25 July 2005 -  Conekt, the engineering and consultancy arm of TRW Automotive, today announced the investment of over £200k in phase three of a comprehensive upgrade and improvements strategy.  The strategy is aimed at advancing the service and productivity of Conekt's extensive test and validation capabilities.

The introduction of a new LDS V8 combination vibrator and heavy duty 750mm slip table means that Conekt's Engineering Services Team now has increased capability to carry out high level shock and vibration tests up to 58kN.  Fitted with special 'low noise bearings' it will also allow 'squeak and rattle' testing to be conducted in the vertical axis. In addition, by using the vibrator in conjunction with new Data Physics 16 channel Abaqus sine reduction and vibration analysis software, Conekt is able to carry out multi-channel analysis or response measurements on a wide range of tests.  This investment, along with the purchase of an MTS high capacity shock machine in late 2004, improves the services Conekt can provide to its customers in particular servicing the demand for test and validation services within the aerospace industry.

Chris Tarling, Business Manager Engineering Services, explained: "With these recent developments to Conekt's already extensive test and validation capabilities, we've seen our offering to the aerospace industry expand significantly. The improvements to our overall service offering across all industries will continue with phase four of the programme, including further investment in environmental and vibration test chambers.  These investments reinforce Conekt's position within the test services market, adding to its already comprehensive set of test facilities."
