BIRMINGHAM, UK - 25th January 2005 - As part of Stage 2 of the Accelerate® Automotive Higher Voltage Specialist Centre (AHVSC), TRW Conekt hosted a series of training seminars and workshops during November and December 2004.
The seminars were open to West Midland's small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as the Centre's industrial partners, and provided an opportunity for SMEs to become aware of anticipated changes in the implementation of future automotive electrical systems.
Dr Kevin Richardson, Manager, Electric Drive Systems - External Business for TRW Conekt, commented, "The AHVSC has been established to help the region take advantage of new developments in higher voltage automotive systems. With the demand for electrical power on-board passenger vehicles continuing to increase, there is a necessity to develop new electrical systems that are capable of satisfying future demands for electrical power. Higher voltage electrical systems have the potential to meet this challenge and their development provides the opportunity for West Midland's SMEs to position themselves as suppliers of the new components and subsystems that will be required."
The seminars and workshops aimed to provide a forum for discussion and dissemination of the technology and issues SMEs can expect to face in order to provide them with a competitive advantage. These events were very successful and received highly positive feedback.
