New Investment Programme for US Facility

Livonia, USA - 27 July 2005 - Conekt, the engineering and consultancy arm of TRW Automotive, today announced the successful implementation of facility improvements and new test laboratory equipment at its Livonia facility, Michigan, US. The investment of almost $440k is part of a comprehensive upgrade and improvements strategy to advance the service and productivity of Conekt's global test capabilities.

The Livonia facility was recently awarded A2LA certification, with one of the requirements being the ability to offer a secure facility.  Reconstruction work is now complete to secure the site and continuous improvement is also underway to increase efficiency and floor space.  Improvements incorporated to date have enabled the facility to offer simultaneous immunity and emissions testing.

With increasing customer demand for certified transient capability, part of the investment programme has included the provision of a dedicated transient room and associated test equipment. Equipment purchased has enabled a complete upgrade of Conekt's transient immunity capability to support all OEMs' requirements. The next step is to add the new capability to the existing A2LA scope.

In addition, to meet changing market demands for test and validation services, the upgrade programme also included the purchase of a new EMI receiver and power amplifier.  With the introduction of this new equipment, Conekt's Livonia facility is now able to offer customers both FORD AB and AC EMC testing.

Chris Tarling, Business Manager, Engineering Services, commented, "The requirements for test and validation services are constantly changing as market demands intensify.  Conekt prides itself on keeping one step ahead of the increasing market requirements and our investment programme means that we can continue to provide  our customers with the best possible service."

The investments at the Livonia facility are made alongside the continuous investment programme at Conekt's primary test and validation facility located in Solihull, England, and confirm Conekt's position within the test services market, adding to its already comprehensive set of test facilities.
