BIRMINGHAM, UK - 1 November 2004 - Conekt, the engineering and consultancy arm of TRW Automotive, today announced a new collaboration which combines Conekt's product validation experience with BAE Systems' capability in Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) to offer customers enhanced product validation services.
Chris Tarling, engineering services portfolio manager of TRW Conekt, commented: "Conekt supports its customers throughout the product development process. The collaboration with BAE Systems was developed in response to an ever increasing requirement for a complete service offering by product validation suppliers. This included the need for Conekt to provide HALT services to its ever expanding customer base".
BAE Systems is providing the expertise and facilities prior to and during test, while Conekt offers the customer service and related engineering support throughout the testing process.
The collaboration highlights Conekt's strategy to expand and improve its engineering services capabilities through meeting increasing customer demand for essential product reliability.
Chris added: "The collaboration with BAE Systems has been highly effective and is an example of Conekt's value for money offering at the critical design and development stages of product development.
"The main advantage for the customer is the option to leave a team of experienced Conekt and BAE Systems engineers to run the system and component throughout the test process, enabling them to concentrate their time on other key activities".
BAE systems have operated a HALT facility at their Plymouth (UK) operation since 2000.
